Dedication Ceremony of the Okinawa Subtropical Environment Remote-Sensing Center

On April 14, 2002, the Onna Research Facility, part of the Communications Research Laboratory's Okinawa Electromagnetic Technology Center (NICT Okinawa), was established in Onna Village in the northern region of the Okinawa main island.

A dedication ceremony was held at the Onna Research Facility on the opening day. Among the many honored guests were Minister Toranosuke Katayama (Minister of Public Management, Home Affairs, Post and Telecommunications), Parliamentary Secretary Chiken Kakazu (Cabinet Office), Governor Keiichi Inamine of Okinawa Prefecture, Onna Village Mayor Hideki Oshiro, and President Moshin Morita of the University of the Ryukyus.
